Who We Are

The World Meetei Council (WMC) is an international, non-political organization formed by and for the Meetei community living across the globe. Officially adopted at the Guwahait Second Plenary Session in 2021, WMC is a platform to forge unity, emotional integration, and cooperation among Meeteis regardless of gender, religion, or location.

To build a cohesive, empowered global Meetei community grounded in culture, integrity, and justice.

Our Mission

A short story about us

The World Meetei Council was formally formed on 28th February 2021, during the Guwahati Plenary Session with its Constitution unanimously approved by global and regional delegates, in response to the growing need for a global platform representing Meetei interests. This marked the beginning of a formal, unified movement to safeguard Meetei identity, rights, and development to eradicate the lack of economic opportunity for Meeteis living both in India and abroad.

Our Core Objectives

  • Cultural Renaissance: Preserve and promote Meetei traditions, festivals, language (Meeteilon), and arts.

  • Education and Awareness: Encourage academic research and global cultural exchange programs.

  • Rights & Representation: Act as a voice for Meetei people facing discrimination or injustice.

  • Youth Development: Support skill development, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities.

  • Women and Child Welfare: Promote gender equity and social safeguards for children.

  • Peace & Global Unity: Promote harmony through intercultural dialogue and mutual respect.

WMC operates under the parent organization Global Meetei Foundation, expanding its reach and resources globally.
